About This Vintage

For this vintage, we have selected the best fruit from Sonoma and Mendocino counties, providing tremendous depth, balance and quality.

The 2020 growing season started cooler than previous years. With moderate summer temperatures, and few heat spikes, the growing season was drawn out. The longer hang time allowed the grapes to develop complex flavors and great tannin structure. 2020 was a great growing season, with great yields, flavors, and structure.

Our pinot grapes were handpicked at night before being destemmed and fruit fermented in stainless steel at cool temperatures for an average of 3 weeks. The wine then aged for ten months in a diverse barrel regimen that includes new (20%), second use (30%) and neutral (50%) French oak from Cavin, Taransaud, François Frères & Remond cooperages.

2020 Cabernet Sauvignon

Contour Cabernet is characterized by a dense fruit profile of blackberry and plum with savory spice and anise notes on the nose. The palate expresses great depth with brambly and dark compote flavors and a firm, robust texture.

About This Vintage

For the inaugural release of Contour Cabernet, we have selected the best fruit from vineyards nestled between the Vaca and Howell Mountains on the backside of Napa, the perfect location for slow-ripening cabernet.

Our cabernet grapes were hand-picked in the early morning during mid-October before being sorted, destemmed, and crushed in closed-top tanks for fermentation at 80 degrees, resulting in optimal fruit extraction.

The wine was racked in barrel for malolactic and aged for ten months in a diverse barrel regimen that includes new (20%), second use (30%) and neutral (50%) French oak from Cavin, Taransaud, François Frères and Remond cooperages.
